  In the middle of Perth suburbia stands Guitar Star, a strange little family run music shop that has sat there for over half a century. Despite business dwindling in recent years, the shop has stayed open, recently hiring a new third employee, Cal, to replace the previous third employee (he got a better job). With Mads and El by his side, the trio keeps the gears of this long-running establishment turning, all while dealing with the weirdest of customers, bizarre happenings, and the struggle to earn a living; all while being in a band together - it doesn't have a name yet, but they're already making songs!

Even before his hiring, Cal was a familiar face at Guitar Star, where he would often go after school to go practice on the guitars. Now freshly graduated, Cal has become the newest employee, with the boss being more than willing to hire him at minimum wage and his mum more than happy for him to take the job so he'd get out of the house and support himself.

Working at Guitar Star for three years now, El has familiarised herself with the ins and outs of the store and would consider herself an expert at everything but playing the guitar. She is often getting Cal in on her troublesome antics, much to the ire of Mads.

With a track record of being fired at every other store in the area, Mads has somehow held employment for four years at Guitar Star, despite her resentment of her coworkers, boss, and the people who walk in the doors. Despite her best efforts to show otherwise, her slights towards El are percieved as light-hearted jokes.
